First impressions of the book cover, it seems like a book that anyone would want to pick up and read. Not only is it colourful and eye catching it also has pretty good graphics which altogether makes a nice book cover.

The Shadow Sister is the fifth book of the Dragon Keeper series and it's the second book that tells of the stories of Tao and the dragon Kai. Wilkinson believed that her stories of Kai and Ping felt like it wasn't over and she needed to write more about Kai the dragon. I've read all the first four books of the series and I admit that Wilkinson is right, Kai's journey isn't over yet, but when I picked up this book and read the first half of this story, I found the book a bit boring.  I found that it wasn't as interesting or spectacular as the other four stories in the series. I also found the story a bit slow.

But after reading more of the book I realised that I was wrong. The beginning of the story might of been slow but from the middle to the end did the story get interesting.  Tao and Kai come across a series of complications. My favourite part is when they encounter a naga who lost it's home. The naga is a bit of a mischievous character that causes some trouble between Tao and Kai.The main characters of the book had matured more from where their journey first started but they still needed to grow even more. It's not till the very end that I fully understand what the title 'Shadow Sister' means.

Overall I think that Shadow Sister at the beginning is a little bit slow but it's worth reading it till the end. It's an excellent book that shows Tao and Kai maturing and working together as a dragon and a dragon keeper. I would recommend this book to people.

My overall rating of this book is 6/10

REVIEW: Empower by Jessica Shirvington

WARNING SOME SPOILERS

Hey there it's Vionna and in this post I'll be reviewing Empower by Jessica Shirvington

Empower is the 5th and last book of The Violet Eden series. Let's just say that the first 4 books of the series were fantastic and I enjoyed reading it.

Here's a picture of the book.

Reading Empower I found that it was a really interesting book and that Shirvington wrote in a way that we felt we were in the main character, Violet, shoes. There's a lot of suffering and sadness that the main character Violet goes through for most of the book and most of it is because she can't be with her Grigori partner and soul-mate Lincoln. As I read the book I can definitely feel for her and I genuinely wanted her to have a happy ending.

Honestly I think that the story is a bit cliched. A young girl having a crush on a guy who's a tad to old for her and thinking that he wouldn't like her back. Then it turns out that the guy likes her back but for some extravagant reason them two can't be together, then there's lots of complication and hurt involved but always, always at the end they are together.

It's not like I don't enjoy reading those stories. I love romances like this that have adventure and some supernatural component in it but whenever I pick up these kind of books I kind of know what's going to happen at the end.

Shivington ends and ties up the series pretty well even though there was a little tint of sadness at the end.

In conclusion I think that the book Empower is a great book that ties up the Violet Eden series but it's a bit cliched. I would definitely tell recommend this book to people.

Rating of this book: 7/10
